Light Denim

I'm not one to usually wear light wash jeans but in spirit of the warm summer days I thought I'd give it a go. I wanted to stick with the lightness of the jeans so I paired it was a breezy white top from Topshop. Which you've seen a billion times. For shoes, I brought out these comfy white wedges from Express.

Summer Inspiration

Hi guys! It's been a while since I posted anything so I thought I'd slowly transition into things with a summer inspiration post. I've taken all pictures from Pinterest since that is where I get most of my inspiration from. I hope you enjoy!

Sally Hansens's Black & Blue

On Nails: Sally Hansen's "580 Black & Blue"
Essie's "Good To Go" Topcoat

I think by now we all know I'm not one to write about beauty related things (would be strange to say the least, considering I stick to lipstick and eyeliner). I'm not even one to constantly have a fresh manicure really. I've really been loving this nail polish though so I knew I had to share it with you all.

If you haven't yet, go buy it, I promise you you won't regret it! I tried my best to capture its beauty on camera but it's definitely a lot prettier in person. At certain angles it appears to be a deep mysterious turquoise while in others it turns into an intense combination of purples.

As for lasting power, like with any other nail polish, it goes a decent amount of days without chipping IF you put a good topcoat over it.

P.S. Excuse the mess that is my manicure, like I said, I'm not one to frequently paint my nails so I do still occasionally "paint outside the lines"
If the same thing happens to you just a little tip... scrape it off during a warm shower, the excess nail polish loosens up and comes off really easily!

You Say Coachella I Say Mexico

I meant to write (& publish) this post weeks ago, around the time Coachella was going on to be exact (hence the title). Yet I think this is as good of a time as any so here we go..

While many people spent their days under the blazing sun, rocking out to great music and experiencing what I hear was a horrible sand storm, I was laughing, sweating and (somewhat) being equally covered in dirt, in the company of my family. Now if that description wasn't enough to convey the amazing six days I spent in Mexico I'll go ahead and be more straight forward about it: that week or so by my family's side was the best I've had all year! (If you haven't noticed by now this has absolutely nothing to do with fashion or even beauty for that matter, but I do hope you're intrigued enough to continue reading).

Maybe heading out to Coachella for the weekend isn't even the best example but it's definitely what got my mind going so I'll stick to it...

I think many times we're absorbed by what's "cool and fun," & what everyone seems to be doing, and we loose touch with those little moments that would mean so much to us. Many of us would prefer spending time with our friends & rocking out in trendy festival wear to our favorite music than head to a small town in the middle of nowhere to "simply visit family." Yet while for many those kinds of trips aren't worth their time I find that for me they are the ones filled with most joy, laughter, and true happiness

While a small town with unpaved roads and livestock might not bring the same excitement as spotting celebrities and gorgeous shirtless guys at a music festival, it does give one the opportunity to unwind, leave the stress and pressures behind and truly enjoy the little things that life has to offer.
I'm not going to tag myself as the perfect daughter, someone who would rather spend time with family over friends or even prioritize family meal time over a shopping trip, because I'm not. I have learned though that its necessary to change your priorities and views of what's fun every once in a while and open yourself up to the possibilities of what could be.

Simple moments like seeing your younger cousins covered in cookie crumbs, squeezing fresh oranges, and falling off their skateboards are lost because we seem to have our heads stuck in front of a screen , on our phones, laptops, or anything that has WiFi connection. We trade our precious family time for superficial outings and friend filled moments, which as great as they may be, shouldn't come before our families.

Don't get me wrong my friends mean so much to me and I enjoy Internet connection as much as the next girl, but sometimes leaving it all behind, surrounding yourself with loved ones and doing absolutely nothing extraordinary has a way of turning into the most amazing moments. While for many Coachella may be the highlight of their year, I'll take the dirt in between my feet and wild dog sightings any day. In Mexico I laugh my butt off, chase after basketballs, and hug my loved ones until my hearts content never caring what people might say. I've always said its my home away from home and today I'll go ahead and say it is what truly makes me happy.

This may just be me rambling on, desperately trying to hold on to wonderful memories but I hope that if you take anything away from it, it is the importance of letting yourself unwind, leaving the social media behind every once in a while, occasionally putting your family first, and truly enjoying the little moments life has to offer. I've been lucky enough to find my happy place in this world but I'm still desperately searching for so many other things so just because you haven't found that one place yet doesn't mean you never will. Who knows you may be that person who would truly choose Coachella over Mexico, and while you say "Coachella!" I'll say "Mexico!"

Ten Years From Now

Today some classmates filming a time capsule video asked me what I wanted my life to be like in ten years. I thought I had a solid idea of what I wanted yet as the camera was rolling and I was unexpectedly hit with the question, I found I didn't really know the answer.

Ten years from now I will be 27 and as sure as I am that I could do great things in the next few years, it's quite difficult to image what life could really be like. So many unexpected things can occur in a single year let alone ten.

I actually gave this question a little thought a few days back, I guess that's why I was so surprised that I still had no idea what to answer. When I truly think of my life, my future and my career it's quite difficult to imagine a guy forming a part of it, at least during the first few years. Up until now I've had no luck when it comes to guys and I've found I'm quite content with that. I have so many dreams and aspiration, so many things that I wish to accomplish, that it's quite difficult thinking about considering someone else's life and future such as you would with a significant other.
Maybe it's just me being a little too selfish here but the way I see things is that this is my life, the only one I have, and there's so much I want to do and accomplish that having to alter my decisions, life goals, and way of living just isn't worth it.

With that mind set and a lot of thinking I managed to come up with what I think is a decent answer, what I think I'd like my life to be like in ten years, the closest answer I'll come up with at this point at least.

Ten years from now if I followed through with the fashion design and business degree I'm thinking about pursuing, I'd like to be running a successful company which sells my own designs. Though being the designer behind the label would be amazing I think I'd ultimately want to settle into the CEO position. It's tricky though, to think and plan out what you hope your life will turn out like, five years from now starting and running my own fashion company could be the last thing I want, but for now that is the plan.

Purchasing my own home has always been my "bigger plan" and I'm not talking about getting married and purchasing one with the help of my spouse. It might just be the feminist in me but the idea of having to wait to be able to make such a large purchase is just ridiculous. I've always been a hard worker so I don't see why I couldn't just make the purchase on my own. Then if a nice guy comes along and we decide to get married I could always put it up for rent and keep my property, something not enough women even today are able to say.

Lastly it'd be ridiculous to avoid the sore thumb among the pinkies, the lone flower among the twigs, (however you want to say it, whatever way the saying actually go's, I think you get the point) it's time I mention this blog and what I hope it turns into. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want this blog to turn into a success. I am an ambitious and hard working person after all, though I have to admit a couple hundred or even a simple hundred loyal readers following this blog would be the biggest success I could ask for.

I can just imagine it Noemy Serrano at 27 years old. Head of a successful fashion company, traveling the world, fashion blogger for ten years. Working my butt off for what I want, single-handedly paying off my own home, finally finding true love and being able to settle down, all my goals, dreams and aspirations under the belt.

Soon I'll See The World

As I sit here in bed I can't help but let my mind wander. I think of everything that is to come. I think of all the places I wish to step foot in. I've always dreamed of seeing the world, as many people do, I'm sure. While many dream of visiting Paris and Rome though (beautiful places don't get me wrong), I've always wished of going to those hidden small towns, with miles upon miles of empty land, men in cowboy hats and clear night skies. I've always been a bit of a country girl, something even the city can't take from me. I guess it comes from my Mexican roots but that's beside the point.

Cave Point County Park

I came across this place a few weeks back and absolutely fell in love with it!! The view seems amazing, like one of those places that no picture could ever make it justice.

Boulder, Colorado

Everything I've seen thus far of Colorado is amazing, its definitely been a state I've been dying to visit, even one I was considering attending university in. Boulder though just seems so beautiful to me, and the fact that one of my favorite books: Rules of Attraction, took place here kind of makes me want to go even more.

London

Although the majority of the time a small town seems a lot more interesting to me, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't dying to see London. The city seems beautiful, the architecture amazing, and the fashion to die for.

I leave you with one of my favorite quotes.

"I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move."

The Hunt: Wish List Initiator

I'm sure many of you by now have heard of the app "The Hunt" maybe you're like me though and no matter how many people rave about it your just kind of not interested enough to go check it out. I completely understand where you're coming from. That was basically me almost if not exactly, 24 hours ago. I finally decided to give it a go yesterday and I have to say (just like half the female population at the moment) I am loving. Not necessarily for the same reasons though...

While the typical user goes on there to ask for help in finding an item they've had no luck coming across, I've been obsessed with just snooping around and seeing what other people are desperately looking for. I've spent most of my recent time on the jewelry search section of this app and I've definitely come across some amazing pieces. Many are items I'd never seen before let alone knew I wanted hence the title "Wish List Initiator."

Basically everything on this list is a jewelry piece but they're pretty darn extraordinary so I hope you enjoy!

Never seen anything like this. But I think it'd look lovely layered with other necklaces to create a really cool effect.

Gold Sun and Moon ring

Not usually a body jewelry type of gal but the ones on here are to die for!

You guys know how much I love statement printed blazers so it's no surprise I fell in love with these two.

If you're interested in any of the pieces I showed above simply type a description of an item (ex. floral blazer or girl on swing necklace) into the search engine provided on The Hunt. There "hunts" will come up and you may find someone has already linked the item.

Inspiration - Fashion Blogger Tar Mar of Tar Mar Tales

Many people get there inspiration from celebrities, some from their mothers, others from what they've seen in magazines. I on the other hand, draw all my inspiration from fashion bloggers. Tar Mar from Tar Mar Tales has been one of my greatest inspirations for months now and as I felt the lack of inspiration this morning she was the one I found myself turning to, metaphorically speaking of course. As I clicked back through her posts I came across outfits I had once fallen in love with and realized I love them just as much now as I did then. That being said I couldn't help but write this post in complete dedication to her, hoping some of you might find in her the inspiration that I do. Okay I'm totally fangirling here but I think you guys will love her too, (if for some reason you don't already)!

P.S. Let me know what you think of this, I'd love to share with you guys more of my favorite fashion bloggers!

Ted Baker

I came across the well know European department store John Lewis today and as I looked through the purse section I found myself quickly falling in love. If you saw the pictures above I'm sure you understand why. Those wallets are absolutely breathtaking. Imagine them with a lovely pastel dress or cool leather trousers to add a feminine touch, they'd go with just about anything. Now you may be thinking "why on earth would I spend so much on a wallet that will spend half its time in my bag?" True. The wallets are on the pricier side but who's to say they can't be used as clutches, I mean they're cute enough, so why not?

March Wish List

I am fully aware the month is coming to an end but I thought I'd share with you a few things I've been lusting after anyways. Being my favorite store it should be no surprise that the majority of the things on this list are from Zara. I have tried to branch out a little more with my store selection though and I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised with what I've found. Let me know what you're looking forward to for this spring season, I'm pretty stoked to be able to do some spring shopping now!

This blazer is perfect! And I truly mean PERFECT! As you can see from the picture above, there are matching shorts and well that just makes everything even better. I've been all over matching suits for winter so this is definitely a great way to transition the trend into spring.

I saw these on one of my favorite fashion bloggers recently and instantly fell in love! The cut is amazing and although is quite a statement piece they are still very versatile.

This sweater is so beautiful and I can't wait to have it, although it is definiley too hot here already. I'm hoping to get a few wears out of it anyways and hopefully show you guys how I style it.

This bag also comes in red which I have to say I also want! The size is just right and the gold plate in the front is the perfect finishing touch.

Cropped Shirt - $69.90

I've been trying to find the perfect white button down for a while now. They're always either to loose and cheap looking or a little more crisp and sophisticated than i would like. This one though is just right.

I'm pretty sure I came across something really similar in Topshop a few months back but never got around to buying it. The sheer shoulder detailing is a great touch and will hopefully keep me from overheating during the next couple of months.

I've seen versions of this skirt with a net like material rather than plain ole sheer and I have to say, I like this a lot better.

I've been looking for the "perfect" black blazer for a while now and I think this might just be it. The turned up sleeves give it that relaxed yet still "put together" look I've been into lately. I know black doesn't necessarily scream spring, but you can't ever go wrong with a black blazer.
